Why Visit Cape Town?
Cape Town is one of the world’s most beautiful cities, with a wide range of natural attractions and activities available to tourists with a variety of budgets. Here are some of the sights that you must not miss while in Cape Town.
- Table Mountain. Cape Town’s most famous attraction, this mountain looms more than 1,000 meters over Turtle Bay and is located within the Table Mountain National Park. Tourists can reach the summit in a few minutes using cable cars, which also features a revolving floor that gives riders a 360-degree view. More adventurous visitors can hike up the mountain using any of the 350 paths which are designed for hikers of various skill levels. The most popular route, however, is the Hoerikwaggo Table Mountain Trail, a three-day guided and fully-catered hike that also includes stops at major attractions such as the District Six Museum and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
- Green Point Biodiversity Park. A relatively new attraction, the Park highlights many of the nearly 300 species of fauna found in the Western Cape. Amenities found in the Park include interactive displays, picnic spots, walkways and a children’s play area. The Park is found alongside the Cape Town Stadium and entrance is free.
- Kirstenboch Botanical Gardens. The sprawling 528 hectare estate is widely acclaimed as one of the most spectacular botanical gardens in the world. The Gardens features a cultivated garden with many collections of rare and endangered South African plants.
- Langa Township. A historically significant neighborhood, Langa was originally established as an exclusively Black African suburb during Apartheid. Walking tours are available with activities for young and older children.
