Colonia del Sacramento Airport Transfers

Colonia del Sacramento Airport Guide

Colonia del Sacramento is a great alternative travel destination to Buenos Aires and Punta del Este. If you happen to catch a flight to this city that used to be a Portuguese settlement, you are most likely to land at the Laguna de los Patos airport. It is also known as the Colonia del Sacramento Airport. It is the main airport in Colonia del Sacramento as the other airport serves only small planes, although there are plans to improve the runway to cater to planes traveling to other countries as well. It is the oldest town in Uruguay, which is also the capital of the Colonia Department.

The Colonia del Sacramento Airport is situated 17 kilometers outside Colonia. It is currently used for general aviation. There are scheduled and non-scheduled operations but the airport is also used for civil aviation including corporate jet flights and gliders. Currently, there are scheduled flights to and from the Capitan de Corbeta Carlos A. Curbelo International Airport in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The airport is widely used for different types of air transport in Colonia del Sacramento. However, not much of information is available online.

For airport transfer, one can choose a private transfer. The rates range from 5 to 9 Euros. There are also buses traveling to Montevideo. The fare is cheaper than a private transfer but you have to share the vehicle with other passengers. Car and limo rentals are also available when you exit the terminal. There is ample parking space at the airport where short and long term parking services are available. They are cheaper than the parking areas offered by private companies near the airport.

There are luggage check-in facilities. There are some shopping outlets and dining spots. You can find ATMs and money changers. There is also a Wi-Fi connection at the airport but the passengers are advised to take precautions and turn on Firewalls and anti-virus. In addition to the basic facilities, there are plans to put more facilities at the Colonia del Sacramento Airport courtesy of the government and the BQB Lineas Aereas, the company that owns the Buquebus (ferry service).
