Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Transfers

Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Guide

Minneapolis and St. Paul are two cities located in the state of Minnesota. In fact, St. Paul is the capital of Minnesota, and it is adjacent to Minneapolis, which is the state’s most heavily populated city. This is one of the reasons why Minnesota’s main airport is named Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. It is also a joint civil-military public use airport. Its International Air Transport Association (IATA) airport code is MSP and its International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) airport code is KMSP. The Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport has two terminal buildings, namely, Terminal 1-Lindbergh on 4300 Glumack Drive in St. Paul and Terminal 2-Humphrey on 7150 Humphrey Drive in Minneapolis. Plus, it has one airfield with four runways.

MSP is completing its 14-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) called MSP 2010: Building a Better Airport which started in 1998. The expansion and renovation plan will improve the airport’s airfield, terminals, roads and parking facilities.

For arrivals and departures at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport, passengers must know what Terminal they should go to. While the two terminals have adjoining parking ramps, they do not have a shared roadway system and pedestrians do not have access between them. To transfer between terminals, passengers must use the light rail transit service. For flights, check in two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight. Passenger Assistance Desks and Travelers Assistance Program information booths at the Lindbergh Terminal provide tourism, airline and airport information, so don’t hesitate to approach them for help.

Several quick service and full service restaurants are available at MSP, including Burger King, Taco Bell, Shoyu and TGI Friday’s. There are also a number of stores throughout the airport which are perfect for shopping such as Simply Books, Sunglass Hut, Gadgets To Go and a Duty Free shop at the MSP Airport Mall. A US Bank branch can be found inside Terminal 1-Lindbergh’s Ticket Lobby, between Doors 5 and 6. Aside from that, there are various automated teller machines (ATMs), Western Union, currency exchange and travel insurance services at both terminals.

Other airport facilities and services are wireless internet, storage lockers, lost and found, luggage delivery, car rental and postal services. A family room and play area are also provided for guests as well as facilities for people with disabilities, such as wheelchairs and reserved parking.
