Barnaul Airport Guide
Barnaul airport is a main airport in Altai Krai in Russia. It is oftentimes referred to as Barnaul West, Mikhaylovka, Novomikhaylovka, and German Titov airport. The airport is located 15 kilometers west of Barnaul. It is actually named after the second Soviet cosmonaut Gherman Titov. German Titov airport contains remote tarmacs for military use and large facilities. Nevertheless, the civilian side of the airfield currently services nine airline companies. The airport serves and habitually handles medium-sized airliners. It also has a cargo center.
Departing passengers are likely to encounter the same check-in and boarding procedures upon arrival at the airport. Passengers on domestic flights are encouraged to arrive at Barnaul airport at least 2 hours before the scheduled time of departure. The check-in counter closes 40 minutes before the departure time specified on the airline ticket. The check-in counters are located on the first floor at the front. After the registration, the passenger must pass through the passenger and luggage scanning. The business class passengers, on the other hand, are entertained in the business class terminal, which is located in the right wing of the terminal building.
Passengers on international flights are instructed to proceed to the international section of the airport. Visitors can check-in as early as 3 hours before the scheduled time of departure to about 30 to 40 minutes before departure time. Passengers on international flights will be instructed to follow this procedure – customs control, registration, then border control. After this sequence, passengers should head to the second floor spetskontol terminal. After all these, passengers are now ready to board the aircraft.
Arrival to the airport is also similar to most arrival procedures. Passengers should encounter customs control, border control, and baggage claiming. After clearing all of these, passengers are now ready to exit the airport.
At present, the Barnaul airport does not permit Duty Free upon arrival. However, passengers can purchase duty free products on departure from the airport. Currently, the German Titov airport is the main distribution center for passengers and cargoes in the Altai region. The airport’s location actually makes it become one of the biggest aviation companies of the West Siberian region.
