Biarritz Airport Guide
Biarritz airport, or known as Aéroport Biarritz, is situated in the town of Anglet and can be accessed through public transportation, taxis and private cars. The bus company Chronoplus can take you from the airport to central Bayonne in 25 minutes while bus company ATCRB can take you up to the Spanish border in Hendaye. This airport has been a home for low cost airlines such as Baboo, easyJet, Ryanair and Transavia. Air France with flights to Paris, Lyon, Nice and Geneva is also accommodated in this airport.
Unlike other busy airports, Biarritz airport has only accommodated approximately 990,000 passengers in 2010. This passenger traffic has, in fact, even decreased the year after that. Thus, it is expected that the arrivals area is small and has the tendency to be a little crowded if there are a few flights arriving at one time. Nevertheless, the airport services include ATMs, a bar and restaurant, a VIP lounge, and conference facilities. There is also Relay which is a newsagent shop, Quicksilver which sells clothes and accessories, and Le Pays Basque which sells local products. There is an ATM at the entrance of the departure lounge and a restaurant on the ground floor. You can also use the letterbox in front of the airport and public telephones. Since the airport does not have scheduled flights 24/7, opening hours vary. From Mondays to Fridays, the airport is open from 5:30 AM to 11PM, on Saturdays from 5:30 AM to 10:30 AM and on Sundays from 6 Am to 11 PM. For first time visitors, there is an information desk open from 8AM to 10 PM where you can ask for assistance.
Biarritz airport also offers assistance to passengers with reduced mobility and facilities like ramps, toilet areas and telephones are especially designed to be reachable to people with disability. As soon as you arrive at the airport terminal, there can be quite a number of options you can choose from to navigate around the city such as hiring a car, taking the bus or hailing a taxi. It is quite unfortunate however, that there is no airport train station.
