Things to do

The first thing to do here when you get into the city is sight-seeing. The city is teeming with proof of its historical lineage -- from its streets to its building and structures. There are many structures and buildings to visit here such as the King Hassan II Mosque which is one of the most popular places to be and it's one of the two mosques which are open for non-Muslim individuals. In addition to the King Hassan II Mosque, there are other places to visit here such as the Corniche, The Shrine of Sidi Abderrahman, Mahkama du Pacha and the Octagon Square.

After a long day walking around the city, a nice warm bath is probably a good idea before dinner. Bath houses are common in Casablanca but the Hamman or the Turkish bath is one of the best places to visit after walking around the city street. After you received your bath, looking for a place to eat is next on the list and there are a lot of restaurants here to choose from. Depending on your budget, you can enjoy eating at La Cigale area which served basic food such as salad, sausage and sandwiches.

Transport

To enter the city of Casablanca the plane is the first ride you take. From the airport which is served by the Mohammed V Int'l Airport, you can take the train, bus or car to enter the city. The most convenient way to get into the cities is by train. The train station in CASA Port has only a few numbers of trains and it stops at each city station for easy direction-finding.

Casablanca Airport Guide

Casablanca, the economic and business center of Morocco, is one of those places in Africa that can capture the imagination. Serving as host to most of local and foreign companies established in Morocco, this city is also known to be the biggest port in all of North Africa. While those traveling by ship will feel at home here because of the city’s spacious port, people entering and leaving by plane won’t feel so left behind. This is because the Casablanca Airport, also known as the Mohammed V International Airport, is as world-class as any airport out there.

Constructed at a former site of the US Air Base, this airport is located at Nouasseur, a town located about 30 kilometers southeast of Casablanca. This airport is formerly known as the Nouasseur Air Base, with some locals even still calling this airport by its former name. Its current name was derived from a former Sultan of Morocco, the late Mohammed V.

Casablanca airport is considered to be the busiest in the country. Just in 2010, statistics showed that more than 7 million (7.25 million to be exact) people passed through this airport. It’s also known as the hub for practically all the local Moroccan airliners, including Royal Air Maroc which is Morocco’s flag carrier. It’s also partnership agreements with 2 other airports namely, the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and the Yasser Arafat international Airport.

Because of the sheer busyness of this airport, it has to have a bunch of facilities to keep everyone who passes through safe and filled up. Different services such as the post office, foreign exchange banks, travel agents, and first aid systems are established here. There’s also an abundance of restaurants, cafeterias, bars, and lounges here to serve those looking for food and refreshment. And a Duty Free Shop is also there to serve those interested with shopping. Lastly, for those looking for a place to stay, there are a good number of hotels located within the vicinity of the airport. The Mohammed V International Airport is indeed the primary Casablanca airport. With facilities to back up its reputation, any traveler can consider this airport a sanctuary of sorts.
