Cordoba Airport Guide
Cordoba Airport is a small or third-category airport located 4 miles from the city’s center. Its records show only 25,000 passengers every year. It caters to international and local flights as well as to charter flights for tourists who want to visit Costa del Sol. Airlines like Basaer and Gestair serve the airport but there are no regular schedule of flights.
Passengers can take shuttles, taxis and public buses to reach the Cordoba city center. The travel usually takes only 10 minutes. People can also choose to take the train. One can even take a rail connection when bound to Madrid. Rental cars are also available at the lobby. The car rental used to be a monopoly in this airport. Today, the passengers can choose from the providers namely National Atesa, Avis, Hertz and Europcar. The airport offers short and long term car parking services. The parking area is located outside the terminal. There are 60 slots for short term parking and 36 for long term parking. The parking fee must be paid by cash just before exit.
The departure and arrival areas are at the same level. In fact, the airport is just a single level building. Since it is a very small airport, one can easily find the information desk and the car rental counter. There is just one cafeteria that also serves alcoholic drinks at the airport. However, there are no shops as well as banking and business facilities in this airport.
Passengers who are disabled or with reduced mobility can rest assured that the airport offers basic facilities and amenities. There are special (or modified) telephones and toilets but there is no wheelchair service offered. But the airport’s structure should not make it difficult for passengers to exit. The airport advises passengers who require wheelchair services to contact the airline prior to the flight. There are also specially designated parking areas for disabled passengers and the privilege to be dropped or picked up just outside the terminal.
Cordoba Airport is a small airport but it offers the basic facilities that passengers might need except for duty free shopping outlets. Nonetheless, passengers can easily get what’s not offered at the airport after a 10-minute trip to the city.
