Gran Canaria Airport Guide
The Gran Canaria Airport, formerly known as Gando Airport, and sometimes called Las Palmas Airport, is located at the Gran Canaria Islands in Spain. They handle more than 10 million passengers every year. They also hold the fifth place in terms of cargo and passenger transport, making it a huge and highly efficient airport.
Getting to the airport
When going to the airport, the Bus Route 60 will go through the airport and the island’s capital. The bus will stop at Zone A Ebene 1 at the departures area. If deciding to bring a car to the airport, there is a paid car park very near the terminal, only about 1 minute away. There are around 1,400 parking spaces available and a portion of them is especially designated for the disabled or those with reduced mobility.
Renting a car
For convenience and flexibility, renting a car can be a great option to get around the capital. There are several rent-a-car desks in the airport. The car rental companies include Avis, Goldcar, Hertz, Top Car Auto Reisen, Cicar and Europcar.
Shopping at the Gran Canaria Airport
Shopping is always fun inside airports especially if there’s a Duty Free. People usually take advantage of Duty Free shopping when inside the airport premises because it is tax free shopping on major brands of clothing, food, shoes, jewelry, as well as household and personal items.
For lingerie, underwears, swimwear and sportswear, there’s a clothing shop called Lenita located at Floor 1 of Terminal TA. In the same area are toys and gift stores, a pharmacy, florist, jewelry store, and even a lottery outlet.
Dining at the airport
At Terminal TA Floor 1 are several cafes, bars and cafeterias, including Starbucks, Soho café, Deli’s Café Select, Cae Ritazza, and Tropical. At the TA Floor 2 of the passengers only zone is the O’Learys, offerin snacks and a wide variety of beers and drinks.
For restaurants and fastfood, Burger King and Lizzaran can also be found at the Terminal TA Floor 1.
Gran Canaria Airport offers several passenger services including several travel agencies and tour operators for booking flights and tours.
