Granada Airport Guide
The Frederico Garcia Lorca Granada-Jaen Airport, more commonly known simply as the Granada Airport, is the main airport that serves Granada city in the country of Spain. Although it also has the name of another city, Jaen, it is actually closer to Granada and is thus more often used for those who wish to travel to this city and other nearby areas. It is considered to be a fairly small or medium airport, but the positive side of this is the ease and efficiency with which passengers can get to their desired destinations on schedule.
There are only a total of five airlines that use the facilities of this airport. These are Air Europa, Iberia under Air Nostrum, Iberia Express, Transavia France, and Vueling Airlines. Most of these flights are for domestic travel around the country of Spain, some to Madrid, others to Barcelona, but there are still seasonal flights to nearby foreigns destinations such as Paris and Rome. The number of passengers for the year of 2011 was recorded to be at less than nine hundred thousand only. It was in 2007 that the airport reached a record high number of almost half a million passengers, but the number has been declining ever since.
Granada Aiport is located only about fifteen kilometres to the west of Granada, and is known to serve the La Vega del Genil region. Some of the nearby destinations that can be reached through this port are the municipalities of El Jau, Lachar, Chauchina, Cijuela, and Sta. Fe. There are available bus transport systems that can bring guests to and from the airport at regular time intervals. Depending on the exact destination in the city, travellers can expect to be at their desired locations within thirty minutes or so.
The airport is made up of a single terminal building that can comfortably accommodate more than a million passengers every year. Departure area has the capacity to hold almost 500 passengers, while a separate lounge can also accommodate another 380 passengers. There are also enough check-in desks and boarding gates to make sure that guests do not have to keep waiting long. Other amenities that can be found at the Granada Airport are ATM or cash machines, a business lounge, public toilets, and comfortable waiting area.
