Haifa Airport Guide
Haifa Airport is an international airport located at city of Haifa in Israel. It is used both for domestic and international flights to the other destinations in the Mediterranean region, and is found to offer the modern amenities that make air travel much easier and convenient. Also known by the name of Uri Michaeli, this Israeli airport has become part of the nation’s history as it is among the pioneers and the founders of air travel in the country. Many of the passengers being served by this airport are civilians from Haifa and other nearby cities, but it also opens its runways to some military traffic if needed.
Most of the flights that are coursed through the airport are bound to the Israeli airports of Ovda, Eilat and Tel Aviv, and are from the Arkia Israel Airlines or the Israir Airlines. Those who will look at the record for the number of total passengers and operations on this airport will find that the numbers actually decreased at some point until 2006. This could be attributed to the fact that the airport actually has three runways, but only one of them is currently in use. There are also plans for future expansion of the Haifa Airport that aims to expand the existing runway further so that it may be able to accommodate larger, long-haul aircraft operations.
Inside the airport, passengers are required to undergo the customary security check. No weapons or other hazardous items may be brought on board. The airport is also properly divided into departure halls, which are further separated for domestic and international flights. Passengers will find ample space and comfortable seats within these halls, thus making their waiting time more bearable. Smoking in the halls is also prohibited and this helps to keep the area clean and friendly for all guests.
As for shops and services, there are baggage trolleys that can easily be accessed from various points in the airport. A cafeteria is also available at the passenger halls, and there is also the Toscana snack bar that remains open until the last flight from the airport. Haifa Airport also provides usual amenities such as ATM machines, foreign exchange services, and service stalls for various passenger assistance requirements.
