Haikou Airport Guide
The Haikou Airport is an international airport that is located in the Hainan Province in China. More officially referred to as the Haikou Meilan International Airport, it is the newest addition to the region’s line of airports, and maintains to be the largest so far. It offers its facilities to both domestic and international flights and airlines, and has been serving millions of people every year. Some of the more famous destinations that can be reached through this airport are Beijing, Guangzhou, Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Singapore.
Located just about fifteen kilometres to the southeast of Haikou city, the airport can be reached within a travel time of thirty minutes or less. There is an airport shuttle bus available to take passengers to and from the airport at schedules intervals. For those who are more familiar with the city, they can take the regular city buses that also pass through the route to the airport. Tourists will also not have a difficult time as they can simply hire taxis or even private transfer services for their convenience.
Haikou Airport issues a Visa on Arrival facility for citizens of foreign countries that have official trades and relations with the People’s Republic of China. However, there is also a no-visa policy for those who will stay for twenty one days or less, given that they are from certain foreign countries. Although the airport serves more than nine million passengers every year, there is strict compliance to its security guidelines and procedures.
The airport is touted as the largest in the Hainan region. It was just recently renovated from 2003 to 2005 for the expansion of its runways and terminal buildings, and is now applauded for its well-equipped amenities and the top-notch service that it provides. The airport lounges are decorated with local and unique adornments that showcase the Chinese culture. There are also dining options, most of which offer a variety of Asian foods. From here, passengers can experience authentic dishes from various Asian countries such as Japan, Taiwan, and of course, China. What also sets Haikou Airport apart is its use of greenery within the airport, making it more lively and clean than most other airports around the world.
