Today, the airport has the capacity to have 20 aircrafts parking on the apron, with a runway built over an older 3,500 meter airstrip.

Currently, plans are being made on the reconstructions of a new and modern business – class terminal and a new railway that will bring passengers to central Kazan, in anticipation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which the country will host. Two new modern terminals are also included in the plans that will give the airport a passenger handling capacity of 3 million per year.

There are several airport services at the airport's passenger terminal. There is free wireless internet throughout the airport, making it convenient for waiting passengers to check their email, engage in social media, and check information while waiting for their flights.

The airport also offers a number of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes to serve the needs of its waiting and arriving passengers. A post office, medical clinic, and police assistance are also present inside the terminal. A nursery for mother and child is also offered. Kazan Airport Guide

A visit to the city of Kazan will require a touchdown to Kazan Airport, one of the foremost international airports in Republic of Tatarstan. Also known as Kazan International Airport, this has been a home to several international aircrafts flying to and from Kazan. Ever year, there are about a million passengers accommodated in this airport. International passengers are required to be at the airport 2.5 hours before their scheduled flight. This will allow them to prepare for the immigration check and customs procedure. It should also be noted that business class passengers have a designated queue. During passport control, the passenger should be able to present the valid documents such as passport, visa, and certificate of return.

Kazan Airport has one Main terminal which was built in 1985. It is therefore inevitable that the amenities in the area are not necessarily new and is not even up to par with international standards. There are basic amenities inside such as currency exchange offices which can be found in the Arrivals Hall and ATMs which are available in the waiting area. Travelling businessmen can still access the Internet through free Wi-Fi services within the airport.

Recent improvements in Kazan Airport have been installed to cope with the increasing number of passengers that travels to and from the City. There has been ongoing construction done in the airport for the past years and just recently, a new terminal has been launched. Although it is still being used for domestic flights, customs and border control facilities are continually improved to eventually handle international flights.

This new terminal which was opened on November 8, 2012 has up to date equipment and business class amenities. There are 19 check-in counters and 6 passport control counters. Shops and restaurants have also been established inside the airport. Ease of access for people with reduced mobility has also been set up such as ramps, elevators, sliding doors, extended doorways and designated parking lots. Today, the airport can accommodate 700 cars and 50 buses. By June 2013, the airport can be accessed by express train to and from the city.
