Kingisepp Airport Guide
Kingisepp has a small airport that serviced chartered jets and private planes with no scheduled services. This small airport is known as Bolshoy Lutsk Airstrip which is located at 39 feet elevation. But the nearest Kingisepp airport is Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg, a city 110 kilometers away from Kingisepp. Pulkova Airport is 15 kilometers away from the center of St Petersburg and can be easily accessed by bus and taxi. There are two terminals in this airport: Terminal 1 reserved for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights. Announcements of departure and arrival time are displayed in large digital placards. At the same time, passengers can approach any of the airport staff for any inquiries. These staff members can speak Russian and English.
Domestic flyers should be at the Kingisepp airport 1-2 hours before the departure schedule while international flyers should be present 2.5 hours prior to the scheduled flight. The passenger should prepare his ticket, passport and luggage or any carried items for check-in. Note that domestic flights are serviced in counter 1-10 and 21-25 while international passengers are accommodated in counters 11-20. After the procedure, they will be given the boarding pass. Domestic passengers are not required to undergo immigration and customs inspection but all international passengers must pass the passport control section and the customs counter (if there are items to be declared) before they will be given the boarding pass.
This Kingisepp airport in St Petersburg which accommodated 9.6 million passengers in 2011 alone is the fourth busiest airport in Russia. It is therefore expected that it conforms to international airport standard. There are quite a few restaurants and cafes inside this airport in both terminals 1 and 2 which you can visit prior or after your flights. There are duty free shops in Terminal 1 both first and second floor and there is also a duty-free shop in Terminal 2 at the gallery floor. Business travelers can also take advantage of the VIP services offered by the airport. Included in the VIP rooms business class lounges are a wide plethora of hot and cold drinks, newsstand, phone and fax services and snacks not to mention comfortable waiting area with big screen television.
