Lanzarote Airport Guide
Among the busiest airports in the country of Spain, Lanzarote Airport is the 10th in ranking. Located on the southeast coast of the 4th largest island in Canary Islands, the airport of Lanzarote serves more than 5 million passengers every year. In order to accommodate the increasing number of flights, especially those inter-island flights, that the airport hosts, a second, new terminal building was added to the airport of Lanzarote. There are more than 40 airlines served by the airport across Spain and Europe.
The first terminal of the airport is for international flights while the second is for the inter-island or national flights. Terminal 1 has 12 boarding gates, 42 check-in desks and 1 for baggage on the first floor. Also from the first floor is the information desk, a lottery store, a drugstore and the wide range of refreshment areas and other facilities. Terminal 2 has 5 boarding gates and 6 check-in desks. The arrivals area is located on the ground floor with 6 baggage carousels. Transfer services via car rentals are being offered in the arrivals area.
In the airport, customers can enjoy and relax on any of the 10 cafes, restaurants, refreshment areas inside. There is also a broad range of shops, a VIP lounge, and ATM machines. Security is monitored by the police station located in the airport. The airport also houses a museum, which is open every day except Mondays from 10 AM to 2 PM, in which the collection of pictures and items showing the aviation history of the airport are exhibited.
Taxi rentals are readily available but is more expensive compared to bus rides. Using the city buses, there are 3 bus routes that passengers can use going to and from the airport. Route 22 travels from Arrecife to the airport and back. The entire ride lasts for about 10 minutes only and available on weekdays except during holidays. The bus ride comes every 25 minutes. Route 23 in which the bus travels from Arrecife to the airport and then to Playa Honda. This route is available every 50 minutes and is only open during Sundays and public holidays. In Route 66, the bus travels from Playa Honda to the airport. The bus comes hourly during weekdays and every two hours during weekends and holidays.
