Minsk Airport Guide
Minsk is the largest city of Belarus, which is located in Eastern Europe. It is also the country’s capital. The largest Minsk Airport is the Minsk International Airport. It is also referred to as National Minsk Airport or Minsk National Airport. It was called Minsk-2 in the past. Its International Air Transport Association (IATA) airport code is MSQ and its International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) airport code is UMMS.
MSQ is located 42 kilometers to the east of Minsk. This Minsk Airport offers passengers international flights including flights to the Middle East and Europe. It started its operations in July 1982. It only has one runway and one terminal. It is a member of the Airport Association of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Civil Aviation and Airports Council International.
For departures and arrivals, proceed to the respective departure/arrival halls of the airport’s air terminal complex. Flight information is displayed on the information boards there and at on-line boards. For further assistance, don’t hesitate to ask information agents by using the “Radio information” devices scattered around the airport. When arriving or departing, always be aware of one’s baggage, including damage inspection, loss, baggage carriage rules and other requirements for oversized and excess baggage.
There are various airport facilities and services provided for guests including a gym, chapel, mother-and-child room, emergency and first aid services, shoe and clothing repair shops and a salon for haircuts and manicure services. A branch of Belarusbank is located at the 2nd floor, left wing of the air terminal complex. A JSC BPS-Sberbank currency exchange is also available. Plus, there is a Commercial Important Person (CIP) Lounge with internet access and magazines for passengers on commercial base.
For food and dining options, there are bars, restaurants and café-bistros in the airport complex such as Aero, Lainer and Chomolungma.
For shopping, visit the stores at Gates 3 and 5 on the 2nd floor of the terminal complex, the Belsoyuzdruk kiosks or the Duty Free shop.
A number of airlines provide flights to and from MSQ, including Belavia for passenger flights and Genex and TransAVIAexport Airlines for cargo, as well as other foreign airlines. For more information about this major Minsk Airport, visit their website.
