The airport is used for both the military and civil use. It has a minor airfield of 12 parking stands and a small tarmac.
The airport was established in the 70’s where a Sukhei Su-15 aircraft was based at the village of Besovets. It was also home to the 991 IAP Interceptor Aviation Regiment. Today, the airport is now part of the 54th Air Defense Corps of the 6th Air Army of the Russian Air Force.
Before the airport only operated during daytime but because of improvements and renovations in 2009, has now become a 24/7 airport allowing aircrafts to take off or land any time of the day with their established light-signal devices.
The airport has a concrete runway which is 2,500 in length. It also has one terminal building with the ground floor as the passenger service area. Ticketing offices are available at the lobby of the terminal building.

There’s an ATM machine inside the airport and a currency exchange unit as well, for your financial needs. A postal kiosk is also located inside the terminal and also an office for the Interior Ministry.
On the second floor of the terminal building, you can find migration and customs services, sanitary and veterinary control and the air traffic control.
There are no hotels inside the terminal building but the Prionezhsky Hotel is less than a mile away from the airport, which is the closes place to stay.
Currently, the airport is going through plans of establishing regular flights between the southern regions of Russia like the Urals and Siberia, for example. Plans also include making the airport the transit point for foreign and Russian Air carriers.
