Saratov Tsentralny Airport
The Saratov Tsentralny Airport is the main airport that serves the city of Saratov, Russia. The airport is the main hub for Saratov Airlines, and operates scheduled and chartered flights to cities in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Saratov is situated in a valley on the right bank of the great river Volga, making a great tourist destination for many of Russia's visitors. It is also the administrative center of the Saratov Oblast region, which is a state rich in natural and industrial resources.
The Saratov Tsentralny Airport is only a close 6km away from the city center of Saratov, making it highly accessible to passengers who will easily find convenient modes of transportation to get to and from the city and other areas nearby.
The airport's operator is Saravia, an operator with domestic and international destinations with charters to Europe and other cities.
The airport only has one runway, and it's a concrete 2, 220 meter long airstrip, able to accommodate small to medium sized aircrafts. There are only 3 airlines that offer regular flights at the airport, and these are Astra Airlines, with seasonal charters to Thessaloniki, Saravia Airlines with scheduled flights to Moscow – Domodedovo, Surgut, Yekaterinburg, and Yerevan, and lastly, Tatarstan Airlines with scheduled flights to Kazan, Nizhny Norgorod, Samara, and Ulyanorsk – Baratayevka. Flights from Saratov to Moscow are relatively quick, only taking an hour and a half on board a Yak42 aircraft.
The airport's passenger terminal only has a few facilities, since it relatively lies very close to the city center. It has its own ticketing office, places to buy basic food and drinks, and the Hotel "Airport." The hotel is located conveniently beside the passenger terminal, perfect for airport employees or airline crew to have some rest, or for businessmen on brief trips to the city, and for individuals or couples who want to stay close to the airport. They offer single and double rooms for guests, with provisions for breakfast. For those who have car rentals or private cars, a guarded parking lot is available on the right side of the hotel.
Since the Saratov Airport is close to the city, availing of both private and public modes of transportation is very easy. The Saratov Rail has a nearby station at the airport, as well as a short walk to a bus stop - perfect for backpackers and budget travelers. Taxis can be ordered at the arrival hall, as well as car rental company services. The city center is a short 10 minute ride for taxis or cars, so it shouldn't be a problem for anyone who needs to get to the city quick.
