Roshchino International Airport
The Roshchino International Airport is the main airport that serves the city of Tyumen, which is the largest city of the Tyumen Oblast and known for having the highest level of gas and oil production in the entire Russia.
The airport is a world class airport, able to handle 23 types of aircrafts and employs about 1500 personnel. It has one domestic section which can accommodate up to 3 flights at any given time and an international section that can handle one flight at a time.
Though modest the airport was able to handle 1 million passengers in 2012 and thousands of aircraft movements in its two runways. The concrete runway is 3,003 meters in length while the asphalt runway is 2, 704 meters long.
The Roshchino International Airport started receiving heavy aircrafts on its airstrip in 1960, but its official launch was in 1968. Reconstructions were made in 1998 with the current terminal being used today.
Located 13 km from the city of Tyumen, it can easily be reached by public transport such as buses, and through taxi cabs.
Several airlines operate at the airport, bringing passengers to and from domestic and international destinations such as seasonal flights to Bangkok and Barcelona, regular flights to St. Petersburg, Irkutsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Tashkent, Kiev, Ganja, Baku, Munich, Nadym, Moscow, and many other places. The airlines are Aeroflot, Astra Airlines, S7 Airlines, Somon Air, Gazpromavia, Tatarstan Airlines, I-Fly, Transaero, IrAero, Orenair, RusLine, Yamal Airlines, UTair Aviation, and Uzbekistan Airways.
There are two floors of the passenger terminal, with a post office, café, newsstand airline offices, police assistance, and medical room located on the first floor. The 2nd floor contains the waiting lounge, the nursery for mother and child, shops, cafes, snack bars, airline offices, and even a hairdressing salon.
ATMs can be found on the first floor, as well as travel agencies where you can book flights and tours. Souvenir shops and gift shops are also offered on the second floor for those last minute shopping needs.
A hotel called "Liner" is available for a good place to stay located just next to the airport terminal, with over 100 rooms available for guests.
Getting to and from the airport through private car only takes 10 minutes, where buses will take 25 minutes to get to the city. Buses found outside the arrival hall arrive and leave every 30-40 minutes, which is a great and affordable way to get to and from the airport.
Car rental and taxi services are also available at the airport with both free and paid parking spaces.
