Voronezh Chertovitskoye International Airport
The Voronezh Chertovitskoye International Airport serves the city of Voronezh and other neighboring cities such as the administrative city of Tambov, which is 241 km away. Located only 11 km from the city center of Voronezh, the airport is the main airport serving international flights to and from these areas.
This public airport operated by JSC Air Company Voronezhavia handles medium sized aircrafts and has no military presence, unlike other airports that have military bases and aircrafts parking on its airstrip parking space.
Currently, the airport is undergoing reconstructions and expansions to its airport complex for greater capacity of passengers, and for more convenience and comfort.
There are four airlines currently operating at the Voronezh International Airport and these are Astra Airlines, with flights to and from Thessaloniski on seasonal schedules; Polet Airlines with a number of flights to many destinations such as Prague, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Munich, Moscow Domodedovo, Yerevan, Norilsk, Riga, Samara, and seasonal flights to Barcelona, Anapa, and Analya; RusLine with flights to Moscow Domodedovo; UTair Aviation to Moscow Vnukovo; and Saravia with flights to Saratov.
The airport was first established in the 1930's with flights carrying passengers and freight to nearby cities. It was only after World War II that it became a civilian airport. Over the years, renovations and improvements were made to the airport, making it a major airport today with the capacity to handle 400 passengers per hour or 3,500 passengers per day.
There are many facilities at the passenger terminal that make waiting convenient and comfortable for passengers. A mother and child or nursery room is available for infants, toddlers, and even for pregnant women in their 2nd half of their terms. On the first floor, you can find the waiting room, as well as 24/7 ATMs, currency exchange and money transfer services, and others.
On the second floor, passengers can find the restaurants and café bars that offer basic snacks and drinks to passengers. If you want to stay in the airport during your visit to the city, the airport offers hotel services within its premises with over 100 rooms from single to double and triple occupancy.
If you're traveling for business or need to do some business transactions, you can avail of the services of the Business Center that has internet access, office equipment, audio visual rooms, charging or mobile phones, photocopying machines, printing services, and other important office needs. There are even massage chairs for those who want a little rest and relaxation before their flights.
VIP services and a Hall for Officials and Delegations are also offered at the airport.
Free parking is offered which can be found in front of the terminal building. There are buses that arrive and leave the airport every 20 minutes, so getting to and from the city will not be a problem for budget travellers. Taxi services and minibuses are also available at the airport.
