Bryansk International Airport
The Bryansk International Airport is located 14 km from the city center of Bryansk, Russia. It is the main international airport used by the city and other areas of the region, such as Vyazma, which is 314 km away.
Bryansk is an important center of steel and machinery manufacturing in Russia, giving it an important place in the country's economy. The airport's location in the city is very convenient as it gives access to other major cities such as Moscow and Kiev through the R 22 highway.
The Bryansk International Airport has one concrete runway, which is 2,400 meters long. It is also owned and operated by the city government.
Airlines using the airport offer both domestic and international destinations. Astra Airlines offers seasonal flights to Thessaloniki, while Orenair has seasonal flights to Antalya. Pskovavia, the airline with the most scheduled flights, have daily operations to St. Petersburg.
The airport was established in 1927 and was mainly used as a military airfield. By 1934, the airport was then used as a civil airport for refueling services. In 1961, the Bryansk International Airport became an official civilian airport with commercial flights. It was only in September of 1995, that it became an international airport.
The Bryansk International Airport terminal is quite small with few facilities, but has enough to provide comfort and convenience to its passengers. There are no hotels inside the airport but the closest place to stay is only 15 km away, which is the Hotel Guest House – a favorite among many of Byransk's tourists and guests. It has a swimming pool, sauna and spa and a restaurant.
Passengers waiting at the terminal's waiting area get to have free internet access through wireless connection. There are also pay phones available at the airport, as well as services for fax and others. There's a border control and customs office at the airport, as well as a ticket office for the three airlines.
Despite having very limited offerings for destinations, the airport provides the Business Aviation services, where passengers can book private small to medium aircrafts for business and private use. Currently, the airport has plans on expanding, with intent on making it a global brand and to attract more investors and airlines to the airport.
Getting to and from the airport is convenient with both public and private modes of transportation available. Buses come and go to the airport every 1 to 2 hours. You can also order a taxi from the airport, as well as book car rental services. A travel agency within the airport can help you book tours, car rentals and help you with looking for nearby hotels for accommodation.
